I did this painting almost 10 years ago, however, it ended up in my painting racks and has been there for years. I came across this painting and another older work when I did some studio cleaning over the summer. There were things I liked about the painting, such as the expressive quality in the gorilla's face, and decided to give the painting a second life. I reworked most of the gorilla's chest and removed his hand as it seemed out of place, and added the subtle patterning. I also changed the background, adding more of a solid color, and added text, letters and numbers.
