In recollection in blue, the young woman here is imagined with wings. The wings can represent a number of things, from freedom to spirituality. The painting is a reworking of a 19th c. neoclassical work by artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres.

Also in this painting, I continue to experiment with creating tension by combining elements that are painted realistically with the illusion of depth and elements that are flat or decorative. Like yin and yang, these 2 different ideas combine into a unified whole.
