Bison are fascinating animals, and always surprising to see how big they truly are if you can get up close to them (safely of course). A few years ago I was at the buffalo roundup at Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The bison herd there is rounded up into pens every year in the fall, and its a chance to see the animals up close. I took a lot of pictures while there for reference images like the one sed for this painting.
